Abstract

|
The author carried out an epidemiological study on unclassified mycobacteria from sputum examination of workers connected with dust.
The Number of subjects are;
Garbage collectors 312
Miners 395
Farmers 317
Workers of steel factory 195
Spinners 163
Officials (control) 247
Total 1, 629
The results were as fallows. `
1. The positive rate of unclassified mycob-acteria of workers with dust was 3.6% while the officials as a control was only 0.8%.
2. The positive rate was 4.4% in male and 1.6 o in female respectively. Observing by age group, the rate was low among yonger age groups below 29 years of age, showing 1.3 but about 4.0 %for those over 30 years of age.
3. In classification by Runyon¢¥s schema, Sco-tochromogens (G11) and Nonphotochromogens (Gj~l)were 24.2% respectively and Rapid gro-wers(G)were 30.4%, and no photochromo-gens(G 1) were detected.
4. In positive rate by occupation, garbage collectors showed the highest rate of 6.7%, f;irmers 3.8%, miners 3.5%, workers of steel fvictory 1.5% and none of spinners. In distribution of groups, garbage collectors mainly revealed group ~ and group ~jwhile farmers and miners revealed group III.
5. Macroscopic changes of organs by animal e:Kperiment for mice were five cases, which 3 cases were seen in group III, and others in group IT. Spleen weight of infected mice in group ]j[ showed the highest rate of 2CCmg while those in group 11 and group IT showed mainly l OGmg.
6. In the rate of reisolation from organs of infected mice, liver was the highest.
